Though announced amid much fanfare, TRS supremo KCR’s national party may not become a reality this Vijayadasami. Indications are that KCR could be having second thoughts about whether to foray into national politics or not. Nothing has been definitively said about the formation of the new national party till now.
Though KCR has discussed the formation of a national party with his cabinet colleagues and his close acolytes in his farmhouse, the picture is still hazy. Several farmers’ organisations and other bodies have passed resolutions requesting KCR to enter into national parties, he appears to be having second thoughts. Hence, though Vijayadasami is approaching, there is no clear statement from him.
Sources in the know say that KCR wants to announce the formation of the party only after touring all the states. He would like to make an announcement only after appointing representatives in most of the states. He is said to be holding daily meetings at his farmhouse in Erravelli to take stock of the situation at the national level. He is also said to have kept an eye on the developments within the Congress party.
Meanwhile, some sources also say that KCR is disappointed with the response from the other regional parties in the country. Though he personally met opposition leaders like Tejaswi Yadav, MK Stalin, Arvind Kejriwal, Deve Gowda, HD Kumara Swamy, Akhilesh Yadav and Sharad Pawar, the response has not been on expected lines. Hence, he is said to have adopted a wait and watch approach on the issue of announcing a national party.
