Is PK working to bring YSRCP, Congress closer in AP?

Has poll strategist Prashant Kishore given a very important offer to the YSRCP? PK, who is currently advising the YSRCP on party matters in the run up to the 2024 elections, is said to have offered an alliance with the Congress Party at the national level. The YSRCP is reportedly quite divided on the issue of whether to accept this offer or not.

While party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Vijaya Sai Reddy said that the issue of alliances and making friends will be decided by the president of the party. He was non-committal on the issue of having political alliances. However, newly-inducted minister Gudivada Amarnath Reddy said that the YSRCP does not need any alliance.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP sources say that the Congress is so weak in AP that it would not be of any use to the party in the elections. However, yet others feel that an alliance with the Congress could be worked out after the 2024 elections results are out and the Congress is in a better position than the BJP and Modi.

The Congress is down and out in Andhra Pradesh. In 2014, it could retain only one security deposit out of the 175 seats. In 2019, it forfeited all the security deposits. The party has not conducted even a single meeting in the past several months. That being the case, where is the use for an alliance with the Congress, argue several YSRCP leaders.
