Nagarjuna’s nephew Sumanth has been looking for a break from a longtime. His previous film Malli Raava won acclaim but couldn’t fetch him box office success. The ‘Satyam’ actor has launched his twenty fifth film titled Subramanyapuram recently.Subramanyapuram is a mystery thriller with super natural elements. Young director Santossh Jagarlapudi is making debut as director with it.Dheeraj Boggaram and Beeram Sudhakar Reddy who earlier made successful thriller Karthikeya are bankrolling it. Eesha Rebba will be romancing Sumanth in it.
We were treated to numerous films in horror genre, which has been losing its sheen lately. Sumanth has never attempted a film in this genre before.Subramanyapuram might be a novel attempt for him, but will it have enough for the audience to be thrilled?Only a handful of films like Bhaagamathie and Anando Brahma were successful in this genre in recent past. Even Nagarjuna’s Rajugari Gadhi 2 ended up as average fare.
Is Sumanth too late to the horror party or has Subramanyapuram enough thrill and novelty to it to get the thumbs up from genre lovers?
