The IT and ED raids in the country took a political turn with the opposition parties crying that the central agencies are being used to silence the opponents and the union government is using them to style the political scores. No matter what, the raids are not stopping.
After the politicians, it is the turn of the political parties to face the raids. The Income Tax Department officials are after a few parties and the raids are being held without any hat. However, only the parties which are on the list of Election Commission but were not recognized.
It is said that the parties which are getting funds, but using them for other uses are being targeted under the registered unrecognised political parties (RUPPs). In the past five years, many such funds were received by the parties and a few searches were conducted.
Though what the IT department is doing is a good thing there are a few doubts. A few political observers say that there might be a BJP hand behind the sudden raids. As it is a central agency, there might be BJP direction, the observers say.
Another doubt here is, in the past too a few parties received funds but such action was not initiated by the then union government. As the political parties are coming together to take on the mighty BJP, the observers also doubt that the BJP might be in plans to stop this from happening.
