First-time chief minister Jagan is slowly showing his dominance over the governance and the party. He has been taking steps as per his conviction and there’s no looking back for him. While he has got little hurdles in form of Raghurama Krishna Raju who is causing slight headache to Jagan, otherwise, Jagan has no major problem within the party or in the cabinet or in administration.
Jagan is showing a lot of maturity and political acumen when it comes to cornering opposition leaders. Be it Atchannaidu episode alleging corruption charges in ESI scam or the arrest of ex MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son JC Asmith Reddy in related to irregularities in transport row, Jagan government has rightly arrested them and cornered them.
By dragging the names of Lokesh and Chandrababu in related to Atchannaidu’s episode in ESI scam, Jagan government has made its moves smarter so that Opposition became weak.
If one closely observes the past one year of Jagan’s governance, he has conducted relatively less press meets whereas former CM Chandrababu used to conduct a lot of press conferences.
Even in the limited press conferences Jagan addressed, he is sticking to the subject and addressing issues. He hasn’t targeted his opponent Chandrababu or Lokesh directly.
Chandrababu used to target Jagan almost every day in his pressmeets thus made Jagan a topic and eventually made him a hero. Of course, Jagan’s Padayatra, promise of Navaratnas, ‘Okka Chance’ (One Opportunity), Sympathy have all worked in his favour in 2019 polls.
Now, Jagan is totally ignoring Chandrababu. He is not picking Naidu’s name at all. With this, Jagan is sending indications to people that there is no strong alternative to him.
Jagan seems to be following Prashant Kishor’s strategy and thus snubbing a 70-year-old Chandrababu. On the whole, Jagan is scoring points politically for now.
