Ever since YS Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and ever since the YSRCP came into ruling the state, opposition parties have constantly been calling out the ruling party’s partiality towards the Reddy community. However, the YSRCP strongly objected to these claims by the oppositions, and maintained that all castes were equal for the government.
But looks like the YSRCP’s statement on all castes being equal is just a statement for the party, considering that the post of the Executive Officer of the TTD has now been given to a person from the Reddy community. Senior IAS officer Anil Kumar Singhal was the EO of the TTD until now, but the YSRCP government has now made Singhal the Principal Secretary of Medical and Health department, and has given the post of the EO of TTD to the Additional EO AV Dharma Reddy.
The post of the EO of TTD is usually given to only Senior IAS officers, and Dharma Reddy is actually a former Indian defence estate services officer who was brought on deputation to AP. This means that he is not qualified enough to be the EO of TTD. To justify their actions, the YSRCP media is now propagating the fact that Dharma Reddy is actually an IAS officer who is a senior to Singhal himself, but that the TDP government had chosen Singhal over Dharma Reddy.
With the promotion of Dharma Reddy from Additional EO to EO, both the posts of EO and Chairman of TTD are now occupied by the Reddy caste. This is drawing a lot of criticism for the government, especially from the oppositions, who are questioning how the government can be so partial to just one caste community, and altogether ignore the others.
