Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar scheduled a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Collectors, Zilla Parishad CEOs and Panchayat Officers yesterday. However, he faced a bitter situation when no one showed up to the meeting.
Keeping that in mind, Nimmagadda once again scheduled the meeting today, and even set up a video conference in the SEC office. The meeting was scheduled to take place between 11 AM and 12 PM today. Despite the many efforts, and letters that he sent out to various departments about the meeting, no one turned up for the meeting once again.
It is being said that the government did not give permission for anyone to attend the meeting, because of which they all had to go on with other works. It is only if the state government gives permission, that anyone can attend the meeting that was scheduled by the SEC.
With the Jagan government not giving permission to anyone to attend the meeting neither yesterday nor today, it is more than clear that the government is willing to go to any length to make sure that the local body elections don’t take place.
On the other hand, Nimmagadda is trying his very best, and is going against all odds to make sure that the elections take place while he is still the SEC. WIth Nimmagadda’s term as the SEC scheduled to come to an end by March 2021, he is willing to risk anything to make sure that the elections are held before March 2021. But the government is fixated upon making sure that the elections take place only after Nimmagadda is out of his office next year.
It is now to be seen who will finally win in this battle.
