Ever since it became clear that YSR Congress party leader from Palamaner in Chittoor district Rakesh Reddy is going to produce the controversial film “Lakshmi’s NTR” proposed to be made by maverick director Ram Gopal Varma, it has taken a political turn.
There have been allegations from the Telugu Desam Party leaders that the real financier for the film was none other than YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
They have alleged that Jagan was trying to take political advantage of the movie before the elections by projecting TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu as a villain who had back-stabbed NTR which finally led to the latter’s death.
However, Rakesh Reddy has denied all the allegations.
“I am also from Rayalaseema. I have the guts to make the film on NTR. They say I don’t have the financial strength to make the film and that it was Jagan who is funding the project. But it is not true. I have the capacity to produce the film. And Varma will make it according to his perception of NTR,” he said.
On roping in YSRC legislator R K Roja into the film, Rakesh said he would take a call on her shortly.
“We shall announce soon whether Roja will play the role of Lakshmi Parvathi or any other role. There is no question of going back on the film. Come what may, we shall complete the film,” Rakesh said.
