The burning of the Antarvedi Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Chariot hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees all over the world. The chariot was being used for all special occasions for over 80 years now, and the sudden burning of it was nothing short of blasphemy.
The fact that the YSRCP government didn’t react immediately to this tragedy, also upset many more devotees, with several of them pointing fingers towards the government for being responsible for the incident. Opposition leader and TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu had even said that Jagan’s rule was the main culprit behind such atrocities and attacks against the Hindu religion in the state.
Following such accusations, the government ordered for a CBI enquiry into the burning of the chariot, which had managed to cool down many of the devotees. The government had even announced that it would get a new Chariot made for the temple. While the government came forward to get a new chariot made, this aspect is what is creating a lot of debate and confusion right now.
The government directly went ahead and decided who would make the new chariot, without so much as even calling for tenders or wieghing out different options. This has angered the Agnikula Kshatriyas, the local fishermen, who have been worshipping the Antarvedi Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy for ages now. They are demanding the government to let them make the sacred chariot for the Lord they worship so ardently.
Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan has also come forward and supported the cause, and even requested Jagan to let these people make the Chariot for their God. However, Jagan seems to not care about what anyone wants, and is going ahead with the initial plan. The Narasimha Homam’ ceremony is going to be held today, and Dharmana Krishna Das, who is overseeing this entire thing, is also attending the event.
On the other hand, the fishermen are gearing up to file a petition in the High Court, and get a stay order put on the rest of the works, until they get the chance to make the chariot.
