As a new year gift to the beneficiaries of the pension scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took a key decision over the pension amount. The new decision taken by the Chief Minister at the key meeting will benefit more than 61 lakh pension talers in the state.
CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy chaired a key meeting with the key officials and district collectors on Tuesday. The meeting was held through video conference. As a piece of good news for the pension scheme takers, the Chief Minister said, the pension amount would be increased to Rs 2,500 from the existing amount of Rs 2,250.
After announcing the decision of increasing the pension amount, Jagan said, the new decision will come into effect next year, from the 1st of January. From next month, the pensioners will be given Rs 2,500 as pension amount.
Increasing the pension amount for the beneficiaries is one of the key promises he made while campaigning for the party before the 2019 general elections. Jagan promised to increase the pension amount to Rs 3,000 in a phased manner. Fulfilling the promise, he increased the amount to Rs 2,500.
