Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy hasn’t made a single statement on the privatisation of the Visakha Steel Plant yet. All that he has done so far is write a letter to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, opposing the privatization.
No official statement or public meeting on behalf of the CM is expected anytime soon, regarding the steel plant. However, he is said to have made some shocking suggestions to the leaders of 14 workers’ unions.
Jagan is said to have suggested the selling of a few acres of land that come under the Visakha Steel Plant. There is a total of 20,000 acres of land under the Visakha Steel plant, of which 7,000 acres are lying wastefully. The CM is said to have told the union leaders that selling these lands would help get the steel plant back.
Jagan is also said to have asked the workers to not protest during their working hours and to protest either after their shifts or during their lunch hours, as protesting during their working hours would get them a bad name.
The Chief Minister is said to have promised them to pass a resolution in the assembly, against the privatisation of the steel plant, and make sure that the steel plant remains a government property. While the CM made all of these suggestions, the fact hat he suggested selling 7,000 acres of land is surprising many,
