All this while, everyone thought that Neerabh Kumar Prasad would be the next Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, given that he was working as the CCLA until yesterday. It has been a very long practice to appoint the next CS as the CCLA, and it was pretty evident that Neerabh was the CS, but only until yesterday.
Over night, the Jagan government decided to change up things overnight, by asking Neerabh to look over the General Administration Department, and to submit a report on it. They didn’t even give him any post, and instead, gave the post of the CCLA to Adityanath Das, making him the next candidate to be the CS of AP. Nilam Sawhney is current CS of AP, and her term had come to an end a long time ago, but is still continuing to serve as the CS, keeping in mind the situation of Coronavirus in the state.
Adityanath Das worked under YS Rajasekhar Reddy as well, by overlooking several major departments, especially the Heavy Irrigation Department. Das is also a part of the illegal assets case of Jagan Mohan Reddy, and the CBI is also investigating about his involvement. The High Court postponed the investigation adn hearing of the cases related to Adityanath Das, because of which no current hearings are taking place.
On the other hand, Neerabh had been asked to submit a complete report on the LG Polymers accident that took place in Vizag, earlier this year. While his report was very true and transparent, the government is said to have not been pleased with it, as the report was in a totally different interest when compared to the government’s interest. Moreover, Neerabh is said to be a very sincere person, which is why many are speculating that this is the main reason why the YSRCP chose to not make him the next CS.
One thing’s for sure, at least according to the members of opposition parties, that is that Jagan is making sure that everyone involved in the illegal assets case are getting major posts, while others – more qualified people – are being wasted.
