Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has reportedly decided to give Rs. 5 Lakhs to the families of Coronavirus victims. However, these 5 Lakhs would be given to only journalists’ families, where the journalists have died because of Coronavirus.
K. Srinivas Reddy, the leader of Journalists organisation, has announced that the CM has agreed to give away Rs. 5 Lakhs, after Srinivas Reddy met the CM. A total of 38 journalists have passed away in AP so far, due to Coronavirus. Srinivas Reddy also said that he requested the CM to give an insurance of Rs. 50 Lakhs, as journalists of the state have been announced as Corona warriors.
Devulapalli Amar, a former journalist, who now works as a consultant to the Jagan government, has also met with the CM to discuss about the compensation that is to be given to the victims’ families. Devulapalli also highly praised Jagan on this occasion, saying that he is confident that Jagan would always support the journalist organisation in the state, now and in the future.
Furthermore, discussions of giving compensation to the families of journalists who lost their lives because of coronavirus have been going on for a long time now. However, the government didn’t bother to respond on the issue until now. The Telangana government has announced a compensation of Rs. 20,000 to each family a long time ago. Following that, K. Srinivas Reddy from Telangana had visited the AP CM, in place of the IJA Chief, which is when Jagan agreed to give away Rs. 5 Lakhs as compensation to all the journalist families.
