While there has been suspense over whether former minister Konathala Ramakrishna would be joining the YSR Congress Party or the Telugu Desam Party, several reports pointed out at his interest in joining the former. In fact, Konathala had met YSR Congress President Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in Hyderabad.
Apparently, an incident that happened between Konathala and Jagan changed YSRCP Chief’s mind which led to difference between the two. According to party sources, Konathala had met Jagan and expressed his interest over joining the party. However, during the time, Jagan had proceeded to put YSRCP’s shawl on Konathala while the latter rejected it and told Jagan that it would be enough if the YSRCP chief removed the suspension over his membership.
This rejection from Konathala made Jagan furious who had then decided not to give the Anakapalle Lok Sabha seat to Konathala Ramakrishna. According to YSRCP sources, the decision for Anakapalle seat was taken in the last moment to give Anakapalle Parliamentary seat to K. Satyavathi from YSRCP. While several YSRCP leaders have been trying to convince Konathala about not getting the Anakapalle seat, there are whispers in the party about how Jagan’s nature and attitude is obstructing the party’s growth.
Some of them have even suggested Konathala to put Jagan in good humour anytime he meets him again. Now that this episode with Jagan has concluded badly for Konathala, he is in a limbo about his political future and is thinking whether jumping into the TDP at this moment would be a right move.
