Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has never been known to make any emotional statements, having always been known as an aggressive leader who makes decisions not quite concerned about what anyone might think of them. This is why the statements that Jagan made today (Thursday), with the various associations of AP state government employees surprised all.
Jagan made several emotional statements, with regards to the implementation of the new PRC scales, and a hike in the salaries of state government employees, which they have been fighting for, vigorously. Jagan asked the employees to consider him a part of their family and to understand the government’s financial position. He requested the employees to not burden his government with the kind of financial burden that the government would not be in a position to bear with.
Jagan also asked the employees to not compare the hike and PRC that he would be announcing in the next two days, with what the Telangana government implemented, as Telangana is a rich state with a revenue surplus, while AP is a poor state with a revenue deficit. According to sources, the AP government is planning to give a 17% fitment, while it is said to be okay with giving 27% even. However, the employees are expecting at least 30%, which is what the Telangana government gave. It is now to be seen how the employees will respond, and what will happen hereon.
