Puri Jagannadh has been out of form for a long time. His last notable hit was Temper that was released three years ago. In spite of being out of form, Puri has never stopped attempting new films. His last film Paisa Vasool with Balakrishna was a huge flop that he literally didn’t find any actor for his next film.
So Puri decided to launch his son Akash Puri as the main lead. Akash starred in a few films as child actor, but Mehbooba is his official debut as hero.Puri has not only written a proper script for Mehbooba, but also has invested nearly Rs. 20 crore in it. This is huge considering the director’s recent form and inexperienced lead actor.
Puri had to sell some of his properties to finish this project, according to rumor-mills. Puri also sold the theatrical rights of Mehbooba to Dil Raju for less than the making costs as he believes that the film has the potential to do well at box office.Puri is expecting the film to fetch handsome offers for satellite and digital rights.
Mehbooba, set in Indo-Pak war backdrop has turned heads with interesting promos, but does it have enough to set the cash registers ringing? We will find answers on this Friday.
