Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, following a string of commercially unsuccessful Hindi films, appears to be strategically venturing into Telugu cinema. Reports suggest Kapoor is in talks to star opposite popular Telugu actor Nani in an upcoming high-budget action drama.
Kapoor’s Bollywood filmography has seen a mix of box-office results. However, her recent films like “Bawaal” and “Mr. & Mrs. Mahi” have underperformed. This has seemingly prompted her to explore opportunities in the thriving South Indian film industry, specifically Tollywood. Negotiations are currently underway for her to join Nani’s upcoming project.
This potential film marks Kapoor’s third foray into Telugu cinema. She is already signed for roles in “Devara,” co-starring the renowned Jr. NTR, and another untitled project with the superstar Ram Charan. Nani’s film, touted as his most expensive venture to date, is an action-drama directed by Srikanth Odela, the talent behind the recent Telugu hit “Dasara.” Odela reportedly spent two years meticulously crafting the script for this big-budget project.
If the discussions with Kapoor are finalized, it would solidify her presence in Tollywood. Nani’s established stardom and Odela’s proven directorial skills are generating considerable buzz for the untitled film. Filming is expected to begin by the end of 2024, with a projected release date in 2026.
