Deepika Padukone is that one actress in India who trends for almost every single move that she makes as she is a role model to many. Her upcoming film Chhapaak promotions made the actress stay in limelight 24/7. Moreover, the actress celebrated her 34th birthday with acid attack survivors and it made her grab headlines for a few consecutive days.
However, Deepika on January 7 visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in Delhi to express solidarity on protests against the recent violence that was unleashed by masked miscreants on students and professors late on January 5. The actress shared the stage with former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, and this made Deepika trend like never before.
People are angry on her for standing with Kanhaiya Kumar, who is believed to be anti-national by the majority of people. Kanhaiya was seen raising slogans in the protest yesterday. A couple of days ago, prominent celebrities like Taapsee Pannu, Rekha Bharadwaj, Richa Chadha, and Dia Mirza joined the protests at Mumbai’s Carter Road. People questioned Deepika on why she did not go to protest along with other celebrities but now went to join hands with a communist student leader like Kanhaiya Kumar.
Reacting to the development, BJP spokesperson from Delhi Tajinder Singh Bagga called for a boycott of the actor. On the other hand, people also supported Deepika for having the courage to stride out boldly to where defenceless young students stand against state power. She has been called superstar and superwoman for doing so while appreciating her bravery despite facing trolls.
But, the actress is also currently facing outrage more than appreciation and a few trolls said that the move was only a part of her upcoming movie Chhapaak promotions. Nevertheless, we believe Deepika indeed showed us bravery and has put enormous courage in standing up against violence, But, what she did also brought her criticism and with just two days left for her movie release, Deepika and her film is definitely in trouble. People are angry, very angry for seeing her along with Kanhaiya, who once raised anti-national slogans.
