Justice Kanagaraj appointed as AP Election Commissioner

Hours after terminating Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as AP State Election Commissioner, the YSRCP government has appointed Madras High Court retired judge Justice Kanagaraj. On Saturday, Kanagaraj has taken charge as AP Election Commissioner too.

Nimmagadda was terminated after the YSRCP government brought an ordinance reducing the time period of election commissioner’s from five years to three years. Initially the YSRCP government had considered Rama Sundar Reddy but out of the blue Justive Kanagaraj’s name was approved by AP Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan.

AP CM YS Jagan terminated out going Nimmagadda for postponing the local body elections which were supposed to be held in February last week and March first week. With Corona virus creeping into the country, then Commissioner Nimmagadda postponed the elections by six weeks.

Fumed by this Jagan made scathing attack on Nimmagadda as he has close association with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. Accordingly a proper sketch was drawn to outset Nimmagadda.
