The makers of the highly anticipated sci-fi thriller “Kalki 2898 AD” are leaving no stone unturned in their national promotional campaign. Following the release of the trailer, a promotional song featuring Diljit, teasers, an animation series, and a nationwide tour showcasing the film’s vehicle “Bujji,” a pre-release media meet was held in Mumbai.
While director Nag Ashwin was unavoidably absent due to post-production work, the event boasted a star-studded presence. Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, alongside the film’s producers, interacted with the press, with Rana Daggubati ably serving as the host.
Adding another dimension to the promotional strategy, Nag Ashwin has launched a series of informative episodes delving into the film’s creation process. The recently released second episode sheds light on the meticulous world-building undertaken for “Kalki 2898 AD.”
Ashwin details the unique vision for Kaashi, a world ravaged by resource depletion, forcing its inhabitants to subsist on scraps. He contrasts this with the concept of “The Complex,” a world overflowing with resources but inaccessible to all. This element draws inspiration from the Trishanku Swarga concept found in Indian mythology.
The narrative expands to introduce Shambala, a haven for those who continuously battle “The Complex.” According to mythology, Shambala is the birthplace of Kalki, the prophesied savior. Ashwin emphasizes the distinct characteristics of each world, encompassing everything from attire and food to weaponry.
He provides insights into the “bounty concept” and the role of Prabhas’ character, Bhairava. These informative episodes serve as the perfect primer for audiences, allowing them to enter the theater with a deeper understanding of the film’s intricate universe.
