The highly anticipated futuristic film “Kalki 2898 AD” by director Nag Ashwin is generating significant pre-release buzz. A grand event held on June 19th brought together the film’s star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone.
Kamal Haasan, known for his dedication to portraying diverse characters, took center stage to discuss his unique appearance in the film. He expressed his desire to avoid clichés and ensure his look wouldn’t resemble previous roles. Haasan humorously revealed that his initial ideas for the character surprisingly mirrored those of his co-stars, Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas. He jokingly added that mimicking Deepika Padukone’s look, which might involve a pregnancy theme, was certainly not an option.
Haasan elaborated on the meticulous process of creating his character’s distinct appearance. He revealed that the team undertook several trips to Los Angeles to perfect his look for “Kalki 2898 AD.” His enthusiasm was evident as he expressed his hope that the audience would appreciate his transformed appearance.
The veteran actor also commented on his preference for portraying ordinary-looking characters who achieve extraordinary feats. He highlighted the influence of his mentor, director Balachandar, who championed this approach to storytelling. Haasan went on to praise director Nag Ashwin, commending his ability to effectively communicate complex ideas despite his reserved nature.
“I wasn’t surprised by Nag Ashwin,” Haasan remarked. “I don’t underestimate ordinary-looking people. They possess a depth that becomes evident when you engage with them. Great ideas translate well when presented correctly, and Nagi knows how to do it.”
Haasan further revealed his interest in playing villainous characters, citing the opportunity for exploration and enjoyment such roles offer. In “Kalki 2898 AD,” he describes his character as a wise yet misguided individual, offering a unique blend of wisdom and flawed judgment.
