In the latest episode of Karthika Deepam, Karthik lashes out at Deepa for her sudden disappearance. As she asks about Sourya, Karthik slaps her. He doesn’t bother about what happened to Deepa but gets angry with her for acting irresponsibly. He says she was a failure as a wife and now she has failed at motherhood, too.
Sourya and Hima return home and feel ecstatic seeing Deepa. Sourya rushes to her mother and hugs her. Karthik couldn’t utter a word. Sourya and Hima burst into tears. While Sourya is happy that Deepa returned, Hima says she didn’t like what she (Deepa) did and adds that she sees a mother in her. Karthik interferes and separates Hima from Deepa. He tells Hima that she has a father who can take care of her. He asks Hima to go inside since Deepa has returned home.
Deepa thanks Karthik for the concern he has shown upon her daughter (Sourya) all this while and leaves with Sourya. Sourya comes back to Karthik and thanks him for all the help. She doesn’t call him ‘nanna (father)’ now. This melts Karthik’s heart.
At home, Soundarya prepares coffee for Deepa as the latter is lost in thoughts about something. She tells Deepa that she has sent Sourya and Varanasi to get lunch and asks where she has been all the while. Deepa doesn’t respond. Soundarya asks Deepa if she had answers for all the questions during her brief period of isolation
