In a fresh development, the United States said to have warned Pakistan against the infiltration across the Line of Control. It asked Pak to not encourage any sort of infiltration across the LoC. The US also asked Pak to take strict action against terrorist activities on its land.
Responding to Pak’s aggressive moves such as snapping diplomatic ties, expelling Indian Envoy and suspending bilateral ties with India, US has asked Pakistan to hold its horses and asked them to maintain restraint. However, US informed Pakistan that it is closely observing India’s moves on Kashmir, especially, the move to revoke Article 370 and 35A and thus bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh into two Union Territories.
It can be noted that Pakistan on Wednesday has expelled Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria and also downgraded diplomatic ties over the Modi government’s decision to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. On the other hand, Pak has violated Ceasefire for second consecutive day along LoC in Rajouri district. This hasn’t gone down well with the US.
“Pakistan must refrain from any retaliatory aggression, including support for infiltrations across the Line of Control, and take demonstrable action against the terrorist infrastructure on Pakistan’s soil, Senator Robert Menendez and Congressman Eliot Engel in a joint statement said in a joint statement
Earlier, a US official commented that the India did not inform the Trump administration about its move on Kashmir in advance. The State Department spokesperson said that “the US calls for calm and restraint by all parties”.
The US on Wednesday said there is an “urgent need” for dialogue among both parties to reduce tensions and to avoid a potential military escalation in South Asia.
