The ruling TRS in Telangana has finalised its nominees for the six vacancies in the Legislative council. The list is likely to be announced on November 9, the day on which the nominations would be accepted. Even the Governor quota list is said to have been finalised. Few more names are now being actively considered.
According to the sources, former council Chairperson Gutta Sukhender Reddy would be nominated through the Governor’s quota. For the six vacancies in the MLA quota, former deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari, former chairperson of the council Madhusudhana Chary, former SC corporation chief Errolla Srinivas, MC Koti Reddy and Padi Kaushik Reddy have reportedly been selected.
Kotireddy was promised an MLC seat if he opted out of the Nagarjunasagar bypoll. He had to make way for Nomula Bhagat, who is the son of MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah. Similarly, Padi Kaushik Reddy was promised the post of MLC after he joined the TRS from the Congress Party. The TRS is planning to recall the file pertaining to Kaushik Reddy’s nomination in the governor’s quota. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has kept the file pertaining to Kaushik Reddy pending in view of objections over his “contribution” to the society. Now, he will be elected from the MLA quota.
TRS sources said that the names of LV Ramana, who left the TDP to join the TRS ahead of the Huzurabad bypolls and Takkallapalli Ravinder Rao are also under active consideration. Both have been promised “suitable rehabilitation” by KCR himself.
