KCR not to relax lockdown after April 20?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is not interested in giving any relaxation to any sector after April 20, despite the guidelines issued by the Narendra Modi government, sources in the government said.

Though there are only eight districts in Telangana that have been declared as Red Zone districts having large outbreak of the virus, compared to 11 districts in Andhra Pradesh, KCR is not interested in relaxing the lockdown restrictions, except for agriculture sector.

In Telangana, Hyderabad, Medchal, Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Warangal (Urban), Jogulamba Gadwal, Karimnagar and Nirmal are in the Red Zone, while Nalgonda is also in Red Zone but was identified only as a hotspot cluster.

KCR is learnt to have told the officials that there was no hurry in taking the decision and said the government would wait till April 19.

He called for a Cabinet meeting at 2.30 pm on April 19 at Pragathi Bhavan, where he would discuss the measures taken to contain Corona Virus, implementation of lockdown and others issues at length.

The Cabinet is also expected to discuss whether the lockdown being implemented strictly in the state should be continued till May 3 or in tune with the thinking of the Centre, whether to give some concessions after April 20 or not and accordingly it will take a decision, sources said.
