We all know the euphoria created by MM Keeravani’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ song across the globe. This fast beat track has made everyone go crazy and stayed on top of the charts for a very long time. The veteran music composer won International awards for this song and Oscars being the biggest of the lot. MM Keeravani’s name is etched in the history of Indian cinema forever due to ‘Naatu Naatu’ song. Despite releasing two years back, the song is still making people automatically dance whenever it gets played.
But Keeravani made some shocking comments about this Oscar winning track recently. The ‘Baahubali’ composer has done an interview with maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. The video is available on RGV’s channel and it is titled ‘Oscar Venuka Naatu Nijam’. When Varma asked if ‘Naatu Naatu’ was composed by other music director, would it achieve the same level of success and an Oscar award or not. Responding on this, Keeravani said that there are many reasons for ‘Naatu Naatu’ song to win an Oscar.
He claims that the audio song alone would not have won the Oscar. When questioned if ‘Naatu Naatu’ is among the list of his 100 best compositions, Keeravani immediately said, “No.” He went onto say, “When you create something to impress other people, it should impress you first. How can you expect the world to like it of I myself did not like it? Sometimes I try to impress others, many times I go with my gut feeling. It changes up on the situation.”
Keeravani further stated, “There are more than 10,000 people who vote in the Oscar committee. They may even leave some of the Oscar entries without watching. So, we have to promote our work and convince them to vote for us. They like ‘RRR’ and its characters which is why they cheered for ‘Naatu Naatu’ song. The overall impact made them to vote for this song.”
