The flagship scheme of the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to provide ration goods to the doorstep has resulted in a confrontation between AP SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and ruling YSRCP leaders.
The tussle between Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao aka Nani has reached the High Court.
Kodali Nani has moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court challenging SEC’s orders to restrain him from speaking to the media. The High Court heard Kodali Nani’s petition on Thursday.
Hearing the petition, the High Court gave interim orders to permit the Minister to speak to the media. However, the Court made it clear that Nani should not talk about SEC, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, the election process,
During the hearing, the High Court is said to be not satisfied with the videotapes submitted by lawyers representing SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and Kodali Nani respectively.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed both parties to submit the full-fledged videos in writing. An Amicus curiae was appointed by the High Court to help in probing the issue.
SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has served showcause notices to Kodali Nani last Friday restricting him to speak to the media on the grounds of alleged making comments that degrade the dignity of the SEC.
Replying to the showcause notices, Kodali Nani gave his explanation in writing that, he has not made any comments that degrade the SEC’s dignity and urged Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar to withdraw the notices.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, who was not satisfied with Kodali Nani’s explanation served showcause notice directing the Minister to not speak to the media till the completion of the polls. Kodali Nani moved the High Court, challenging the SEC’s orders.
