Krishna-Vijaya Nirmala’s tale of love begins with ‘Sakshi’

Superstar Krishna and late Vijaya Nirmala was one of those strong couples who remained faithful to each other despite all the hurdles in life and seem to have loved every minute of their togetherness. They have lived in perfect harmony for 50 years. The couple has met on the sets of their film, Sakshi, in 1967. The film also marks as the directorial debut of ace filmmaker Bapu.

One of the famous songs from the film has been shot at the Meesala Krishnudu temple in Medak district. The temple is popularly known for couples getting married soon after visiting Lord Krishna idol here. Moreover, the song had lyrics ‘Thali Kattu Vela..’, which was so apt for the situation that Vijaya Nirmala and Krishna fell for each other at this place.

One funny incident has taken place while shooting this song when comedian Rajababu jokingly said ‘Meerika Bharyabarthalu Ayipoyinatte’ to the actors after telling them about the history of the powerful God there. Vijaya Nirmala has reportedly got furious over his words initially. Later, Krishna, who already had feelings on her, took the help of Chandramohan and conveyed his feelings to the actress. Thereafter, Krishna himself proposed to Vijaya Nirmala by saying, ‘Manamiddaram Pelli Chesukundam’.

This is how the on-set chemistry blossomed into their real lives ever since 1969. This aww-inducing love story has now definitely left a void in Superstars life after Vijaya Nirmala’s sudden demise. Hoping that God gives him all the strength in the world, this beautiful love will be a timeless treasure even for the future generations to come.
