Telangana government raised a strong objection over Andhra government’s orders to expand Pothireddypadu head regulator on Krishna river and construct a new lift scheme and moved the Krishna Water Management Board against the GO.
Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has made some serious comments on the AP government, without of course naming Andhra chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
But the opposition parties in Telangana, both the Congress and the BJP, are not believing KCR’s aggressive stand against Jagan. They believe that it was a conspiracy hatched by both KCR and Jagan to hoodwink the people of both the states to gain political mileage.
According to a Telangana Congress leader, the whole issue of Pothireddypadu expansion and Rayalaseema lift scheme was just a drama to gain political mileage.
“The script work and direction are being done by KCR and production and action was by Jagan,” he alleged.
He said by announcing the project and issuing a GO, Jagan would become a hero in the eyes of Andhra people.
“Jagan is caring a damn for the objections of the Telangana state and giving a projection that protecting the state’s interests is more important than friendship with KCR. That would fetch a lot of mileage for him in the ensuing local body elections,” he pointed out.
At the same time, by raising his voice against the AP government and moving the Supreme Court and Krishna water management board, KCR will also get the sympathy of the people as a fighter and that would get him huge political mileage.
“But the fact is that Jagan doesn’t have money even to take up the project, let alone completing it to provide water to Rayalaseema. But by highlighting the issue, Jagan will get a heroic image among the people.
At the same time, KCR also knows that Jagan cannot take up the project in the near future; but by creating an impression that he is opposing Jagan’s project, he can also become a big hero in the eyes of Telangana people,” the Congress leader observed.
