Om Raut’s mythological drama ‘Adipurush’ has hit the screens this weekend. Featuring Prabhas as lord Shri Ram, this movie which shows the story of Ramayana has received mixed response from the audience as well as critics. The poor visual quality, subpar graphics, artificial outlook, weird styling of main characters and cinematic liberties turned out to be a major disappointment in the film.
Prior to the film’s release, the involvement of Sonal Chauhan in ‘Adipurush’ raised a lot of eyebrows. Known for her alluring glamour show in most of the Telugu films, Sonal Chauhan did not do any roles that has substance. Since it is a mythological film, people expected her to see her in a meaty role for the first time. But they were shocked as Sonal appeared in just two scenes.
She played the role of Ravan’s wife Mandodhari in the movie which has a lot of significance. But it looks like Om Raut decided to not give any importance to that character and focused more on Indrajit and other roles. In the movie which spanned three hours, Sonal was given two scenes and had 4-5 lines to deliver. This was very disappointing and sources reveal that she got 50 lakhs for playing this minor role.
We are not sure whether she was given a small role or a lot of her scenes got chopped off on the editing table. Not just Sonal but a lot of key storylines in Ramayan which would have given goosebumps to the audience were ignored by the director and more than 45 minutes were spent on the last fight which could have been reduced by another 10-15 minutes.
