Line cleared for new Telangana secretariat

The Telangana High Court has issued an interim order allowing the central government to take a decision on the Bison Polo grounds. However, the final hearing on this case is adjourned to February 12th.

With the case pending in the court, the centre has delayed granting the proposed land to Telangana government which had plans to construct new secretariat. In protest to the TRS government’s decision, about 30 petitions were filed in the High Court and all the petitioners claimed that at any cost the government should not be allowed to construct new secretariat with public money.

This land belongs to the Defence ministry and KCR, KTR have requested multiple times to Nirmala Sitharaman to grant this land to the state government. In place of the current land, the government has come up with an alternative land wherever Defence ministry needs.

Situated in Secunderabad, the Bison Polo grounds is spread across 55 acres. Apart from the secretariat, the government also wants to build a cultural centre here.
