Thummala Lokeshwar Reddy, the whistleblower who exposed Telugu Desam Party’s data theft scam in March this year, is going to become the Information Technology Advisor of Andhra Pradesh government shortly.
YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is learnt to have given the clearance for the appointment of Lokeshwar Reddy as the Advisor on IT affairs. He will be directly reporting to the chief minister.
Though Jagan has initially appointed K Rajasekhar Reddy, a US-returned techie, as an IT Advisor in July, he wants to strengthen the Information Technology department further. The appointment of Lokeshwar Reddy is being viewed in this angle.
It may be recalled that Lokeshwar Reddy had lodged a complaint with the Telangana police against IT Grids (India) Pvt. Ltd and Bluefrog Mobile Technologies Pvt. Ltd, which were allegedly given access by the previous Telugu Desam Party government to the enormous amount of official data in respect of the beneficiaries of various government schemes.
He pointed out that the Chandrababu Naidu government had also provided private data of 3.70 crore voters of AP, including Smart Pulse Survey reports, Aadhaar details, colour photographs of the voters and their mobile numbers too, to the TDP.
“The TDP had amalgamated and uploaed the same into the TDP’s Seva Mitra mobile application, to be used by the party cadre for identifying non-TDP voters so that the government can delete their names from electoral rolls based on the voter profiling,” he alleged.
