Popular Telugu Character Artist Karate Kalyani has been in the news with the NTR’s statue controversy in Khammam. She led the fight against the NTR statue. Karate Kalyani alleged that sentiments were hurt and they will not allow the statue inauguration. The issue even reached the High Court and the statue underwent some changes.
During the controversy, she made some objectionable comments which did not go well with the Movie Artists Association (MAA) body. She was served show cause notices in this regard asking her to come up with an explanation within three days. MAA took the issue seriously.
However, the response and explanation she gave did not satisfy the body and Movie Artists Association (MAA) came up with a shocking decision, Karate Kalyani’s membership was canceled. A letter has been issued in the name of MAA General Secretary Raghu Babu. The decision was taken at a recent meeting.
Karate Kalyani raised many objections to the idea to set up NTR’s statue in Khammam in the form of Lord Krishna. She said that sentiments were hurt. She gave interviews on this and even appeared in many TV debates on the issue.
However, NTR fans in Khammam alleged that the controversy was created wantedly to get a political image. They also asked why only Karate Kalyani is at the forefront when several others are hurt. Many also alleged that controversy was created for vested interests.
