Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan, which is made based on the backdrop of football, gets a release date. Boney Kapoor, the producer of the film has taken to Twitter to reveal that the film will be hitting the screens on August 13, 2021.
Maidaan will chronicle the golden years of football in India and is a biopic on Sued Abdul Rahim, the Indian football team coach.
Rahim served the Indian football team as a coach and manager from 1950-1963. It was under his guidance that the Indian football team won gold at the 1962 Asian Games and he also led the team to the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
This film was initially slated for release in November. But a lot of the shooting is still pending and the makers are trying to take the film on floors as early as possible, but aren’t able to cope with the situations.
“2021 Independence week. An untold story that will make every Indian proud. 13th August mark the date,” announced Devgn on his Instagram account.
Initially, Keerthy Suresh was roped in to play the leading lady in this film. But there was a lot of transformation in Keerthy that the makers, and the actress, weren’t convinced that she would fit in the bill.
So she was replaced by Priyamani, who is super happy with the success of her web series The Family Man.
