The two visits made by TRS president and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao to Kolkata to meet Trinamool Congress president and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee seems to have turned futile.
KCR met Mamata twice in March 2018 and again recently in December 2018 after winning Telangana Assembly polls with a thumping majority.
KCR sought Mamata’s support in forging a Federal Front against Congress-led UPA and BJP-led NDA before upcoming Lok Sabha polls in April/ May.
Though Mamata held discussions with KCR, she remained non-committal on whether she will support KCR or not.
But now, Mamata herself took the lead to forge a Front to defeat BJP-led NDA in upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
She has announced to held a mega rally of national leaders on January 19 in Kolkata.
Interestingly, she invited TDP chief and AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu for the rally. Shockingly, she did not extend any invitation to KCR.
This shows that Mamata suspects KCR to be a ‘secret friend’ of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and for this reason he was not invited.
Mamata has also sent invitations to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, BSP chief Mayawati, DMK chief Stalin, AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and JDS chief and Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy etc. All of them have confirmed their participation.
It remains to be seen how KCR will react on Mamata ignoring him and what strategy he would devise to take his Federal Front forward.
