Post the release of ‘Baahubali’, many producers were ready to make grand films that fell into the genre of folklore or mythological. Mega producer Allu Aravind too came forward to produce a pan-Indian film ‘Ramayan’. The historical film was supposed to be directed by Nitesh Tiwari who made films like ‘Dangal’ and ‘Chichchore’.
The estimated budget of this film was around 1500 crores and it was expected to be India’s biggest film. But it looks like Aravind decided to shelve this project considering the current circumstances. The film needs a huge star who can pull of lord Rama’s role. Also, Prabhas and Om Raut have announced ‘Adipurush’ which is based on Ramayan. Akshay Kumar too is coming up with a film titled ‘Ram Sethu’. With many films based on Ramayana coming in the next few years, Allu Aravind’s dream project may not have a unique appeal.
Since the financial aspects changed a lot due to Coronavirus, Aravind drifted towards OTT business and generated more digital content nowadays.
