TDP MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has been staying away from party activities ever since the party faced a humiliating defeat in the 2019 general elections. The latest update is that he has decided not to stay in TDP anymore.
News is coming in that Ganta has resigned from the TDP’s primary membership. For the past three years, there have been occasional leaks to the media regarding the same. However, an official announcement regarding his resignation is yet to be released.
Meanwhile, there is talk in TDP circles that Ganta Srinivasa Rao has recently told his followers that he will stay away from active politics. Although he won the 2019 elections from Visakhapatnam North on behalf of the TDP, he is not active in politics as the party does not have power in the state.
Ganta announced his resignation as an MLA in the wake of the labour movement that had gained momentum in Visakhapatnam after the central government announced that it would privatize the Vizag Steel Plant.
Ganta entered politics in 1999 and won the Lok Sabha seat from Anakapalle on behalf of the Telugu Desam Party. He contested for TDP from Chodavaram in 2004 and won as an MLA. By the time of the 2009 election, he had joined the Prajarajyam Party and contested for Anakapalle Assembly constituency on behalf of Chiranjeevi’s party and won as an MLA.
He joined the Telugu Desam Party again in 2014 when the Praja Rajyam merged with the Congress party. In the 2014 elections, Ganta contested from the Bheemili Assembly constituency and won as an MLA. In 2019, he contested from Visakhapatnam North constituency and won.
