Modi’s silent press conference is making Twitter go crazy

Two days back when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he would address the first press conference of his five-year term at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters in Delhi, social media went all excited. The media, press, and Television channels looked forward to broadcasting the event live.

Everyone thought the Modi has finally come out of the box and will face criticism like a boss. He was known for not conducting any question and answer sessions before and for only accepting scripted questions from the journalists. However, things turned upside down. We can see that PM only interacted with journalists about the election campaign and his party’s prospects in the Lok Sabha 2019 polls. He never uttered a word about anything else Nor did her answer any questions. In fact, BJP president Amit Shah, who sat beside him in the press conference, stated that “It is not necessary for the prime minister to answer every question of yours”.

Whenever a question was asked Amit Shah took the initiative to answer in place of Modi and this irked and outraged netizens on social media. One user wrote that Modi’s press conference, just like Acche Din, raised our expectations and kept India waiting and waiting. While another user calls it as Amit Shah’s press conference.

The Congress President Rahul Gandhi too tweeted by saying, “Congratulations Modi Ji. Excellent Press Conference! Showing up is half the battle. Next time Mr Shah may even allow you to answer a couple of questions. Well done! “. On the other hand, Kashmiri political leader Omar Abdullah claimed that the journalists who were present in the event were meticulously picked so that no hostile questions were raised.
