Municipal Polls Will Be Held As Per The Earlier Notification: Ap High Court

Hearing a bunch of petitions filed seeking directives to issue fresh election notifications for the Municipal Polls in Andhra Pradesh, the High Court cleared all the obstacles for the polls.

The Constitutional bench, which heard the petitions quashed all of them and said it cannot interfere in the election row as the election process for Municipal Polls has started already.

Stating that they cannot stay the election process, the Andhra Pradesh High Court said, the elections will be held on March 10 as per the notification issued by the SEC earlier.

16 petitions were filed in the High Court seeking directives to issue fresh election notification for the Municipal polls. The petitioners moved the HC to seek directives to hold the polls as per the new voter list.

The polls for Municipalities and Urban Local Bodies will be held on March 10. The elections will cover 12 municipal corporations, 75 municipal and city panchayats.

The election Model Code of Conduct came into force in the boll-bound regions in Andhra Pradesh from 15.02.2021. The Model Conduct will be in force till the completion of polls.
