At a time when there have been demands from several sections of people for re-imposition of lockdown in Telangana to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic, there are several other voices which are strongly opposing the same.
Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao already hinted at re-imposing 15-day lockdown in Hyderabad and surrounding districts, most probably from July 3. A decision is likely to be taken in the state cabinet meeting which may be held on July 2.
Not just Telangana, many other states are contemplating re-imposition of lockdown in the areas where there are large number of cases for Covid-19. States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have already started enforcing lockdown in the capital cities to a large extent.
But senior actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena Party leader Naga Babu, who has been making controversial comments on social media, described the proposal of Telangana to reimpose lockdown as ‘historic blunder.’
He said the state and central governments had imposed lockdown from 60 to 90 days to prevent spread of Coronavirus. Now, the governments have to concentrate on providing the best medicare to the patients who contract Coronavirus during the lockdown period.
“But reimposing lockdown is not the solution,” he said.
Naga Babu said instead of implementing effective control measures, if the government is thinking of lockdown again, it will be a major blunder.
“The people will revolt against the government if the lockdown is reimposed and it will be atrocious to bring the normal life back to a complete halt,” he said.
He reminded that the people had suffered a lot due to lockdown and it was not proper to bring the situation back to square one at this stage.
