Following the phenomenal success of “DJ Tillu” two years ago, Siddu Jonnalagadda is set to reprise his iconic role in “Tillu Square,” hitting theaters this weekend. While excitement surrounds the film, some have questioned the motives behind the sequel, suggesting it’s a mere attempt to capitalize on the first part’s popularity.
Addressing these concerns, the film’s producer, Naga Vamsi, emphasizes that “Tillu Square” is not simply a money-making venture. He explains that Tillu’s character resonated deeply with audiences, inspiring them to create a sequel that elevates the entertainment quotient.
“We weren’t driven by the sole purpose of making a quick profit,” Vamsi asserts. “We poured two years of dedication into this film, aiming to provide a more entertaining experience for fans who loved Tillu’s character.”
Vamsi underscores the precedent set by successful franchises like “Pushpa,” “Baahubali,” and “KGF,” where sequels organically continue the narratives established in their predecessors. He highlights the immense audience appreciation for Tillu, particularly after the film’s release on the streaming platform Aha. This widespread ownership of the character fueled the desire to expand Tillu’s story and offer audiences a fresh dose of entertainment.
Anupama Parameswaran returns as the leading lady in “Tillu Square,” with Ram Miryala composing the music and Bheems Ceciroleo providing the background score. Mallik Ram directs the film, featuring a cast of established actors.
With the release of “Tillu Square” on the horizon, the debate surrounding its purpose continues. Will it stand as a worthy successor to the original film, or simply exploit its legacy? Only time will tell, but one thing remains certain – Siddu Jonnalagadda’s return as Tillu promises to generate significant buzz at the box office.
