If there is one department whose image has been badly damaged during the five-year rule of TDP government in Andhra Pradesh led by CM N.Chandrababu Naidu, it’s the AP police department.
The ‘over political interference’ of TDP leaders in police department has dented the image of police department.
Any major crime incident happens in AP, a common statement seen in media by the victims is that, “We don’t have trust in AP Police, transfer our case to Telangana Police”.
In Kodi Kathi case, though the incident happened in Vizag in AP, Jagan rushed to Hyderabad and filed the case saying that he has no trust in AP Police controlled by Chandrababu.
Jagan’s sister YS Sharmila also filed case in Hyderabad against social media slandering and spreading rumours against her.
Latest, in the sensational murder case of industrialist Jayaram, his wife Padmasree Chowdary filed a case in Hyderabad saying that she has no trust in AP Police and this case should be transferred to TS Police.
Today (Wednesday), Jayaram murder case has been transferred from AP to TS Police.
AP Police has sincere, dedicated and committed police officials. The Telangana government too wishes some of the AP police officers, who were allotted to AP after bifurcation of state, would have been in Telangana for even better functioning of police department.
But the TDP government in AP indulged in too much political interference in police department and did not allow AP Police to function independently and effectively.
The result is AP Police attracting headlines for wrong reasons now.
TDP leaders in a bid to come clear out of cases of their own and their kith and kin indulging in crimes and offences are bringing pressure on AP Police to give a clean chit.
In Jayaram murder case also, the AP Police gave clean chit to Shikha Chowdhary even before the investigation is complete allegedly due to pressure exerted by TDP leaders as Rakesh Reddy, the murder accused has close links to TDP leaders and Rakesh Reddy and Shikha are engaged in physical relationship for long.
This forced Jayaram’s wife Padmasree to demand transfer of case from AP to TS for impartial inquiry.
While TRS government in Telangana has boosted the image of TS Police with various measures like giving Toyota Innovas, Tata Sumos, advanced bikes, modern equipment and construction of world-class command control centre in Hyderabad by spending thousands of crores of rupees and giving free hand to TS police in investigating the cases, the TDP government in AP is denting the image of AP Police with it’s lopsided policies and hitting the morale of AP Police.
