Telugu Desam Party Chief and ex-Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has made several suggestions to the YSRCP government and the Central government today, on how the second wave of Coronavirus should be tackled in AP, and in the country as a whole.
Naidu said that all public resources should be utilised towards reducing the spread of the virus in the country and that a nationwide lockdown should be put in place in order to break the transmission of the deadly variants of Coronavirus, like the N-440k variant. He also said that the vaccination for those above 18 years of age should be ramped up and done with as soon as possible and on a high priority basis. Currently, reports suggest that those below the age of 18 would be highly susceptible to the virus, in case of a future 3rd wave of the virus.
Naidu also said that adequate vaccine doses were not procured by the Andhra Pradesh government, which ordered just 13 Lakh doses. He noted that several states are ordering much higher quantities of vaccine doses, and states like Maharashtra are opting for a hundred percent vaccination drive. Naidu also gave the example of states like Kerala and Karnataka, which have ordered for 1 Crore doses each, and Tamil Nadu, which has ordered for 1.5 Crore doses.
The TDP chief said that countries like America and England have been able to reduce the number of cases in their countries by opting for a massive vaccination drive, which is to be opted for in India as well, to make sure that the situation gets better. He also asked the governments to prioritise protecting the lives of people, as entire families are getting infected by the virus this time.
