The ongoing second wave of novel Coronavirus is not leaving any state in the country and one after the other state is being forced to impose restrictions as a bid to contain the virus spread.
Joining the list of states that have imposed restrictions, Uttar Pradesh too announced a night curfew that will be in effect from Thursday night. Lucknow, Kanpur, and temple city Varanasi will go into night curfew from today.
The night curfew will be in effect till the 30th of April as a measure to tackle respiratory disease. People can buy essential items during this period and good vehicles will also be allowed.
Night curfew will be imposed from 9 PM and 6 AM, 10 pm to 6 am, and 9 PM to 6 AM in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi. However, the night curfew will be active for one week in Varanasi.
“In Lucknow, all government, non-government or privately managed schools, colleges and educational institutions and coaching institutes are closed, except medical, nursing and para-medical institutes, with immediate effect for the control of Covid-19 infection till April 15, 2021,” Lucknow District Magistrate tweeted.
In an official statement, the Uttar Pradesh government urged people to wear facemasks and observe social distancing outdoors. The hospitals in the state were also directed to dedicate half of the ambulances for the Covid-19 patients.
In the last 24 hours, Uttar Pradesh added 6,023 new Covid-19 infections and 40 fatalities, taking the toll of infections and fatalities to 6,45,930 and 8,964 respectively.
Imposing night curfews and restrictions has become a new normal in the country and the list of states imposing the restrictions is getting increased with each day passing.
