Ileana D’Cruz, who once captivated the hearts of Tollywood audiences with blockbuster movies like ‘Pokiri’ and ‘Jalsa’, recently made her comeback in Bollywood after a three-year hiatus following the birth of her first child. Her return to the big screen was marked by two films, ‘Tera Kya Hoga Lovely’ and the recently released ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’.
‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’, starring Vidya Balan, Prateek Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Senthil Ramamurthy, hit the theatres on April 19. However, the film faced tough competition from Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Love S*ex Aur Dhokha 2’, also featuring Vidya Balan and Prateek Gandhi. Despite the star-studded cast and the directorial efforts of Shirsha Guha Thakurta, ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ fell short of expectations, earning approximately Rs 50 lakhs on its opening day with a 9.10% Hindi occupancy.
On the other hand, ‘Love Se*x Aur Dhokha 2’ managed to secure only Rs 15 lakhs on its first day, with a 5.48% Hindi occupancy. Directed by Dibakar Banerjee and produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures, the film stands out for breaking stereotypes and highlighting the realities of today’s generation. Despite her best efforts in Bollywood, Ileana’s recent films have not met the desired success.
Her last appearance in Tollywood was in Ravi Teja’s ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ in 2018, directed by Srinu Vaitla, which also failed to make a mark at the box office. With her recent Bollywood endeavors facing challenges, it seems Ileana might need to revisit Tollywood to reignite her career and charm audiences once again.
