The Union Home Ministry is all set to discuss the aftermath of the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh in Hyderabad, on the 17th of this month. This discussion will take place with the finance ministries of both the states and since morning, there has been news that AP’s special status would also be discussed in this meeting.
The YSRCP members, including Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, have, ever since then, been propagating on social media that Andhra Pradesh’s Special Status has been possible only by Chief Minsiter YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Probably this propaganda got a little too much, that BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao decided to comment on the same. GVL said that he contacted the Union Home Ministry after seeing this propaganda and got to know that there’s not been any talk of giving special status to AP at all.
GVL asked why AP’s special status would be talked about in Telangana, and said that the Central Government is always ready to help the AP government financially, but that the centre would not grant AP with a special status. While GVL has responded on the matter, many are awaiting an official response from the Union Home Ministry, in the hopes that GVL might be wrong. On the whole, though, it does seem a little unlikely that AP would be granted special status, considering everything.
