Reverse tendering seems to be the buzzword for YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy these days.
His government has followed this reverse tendering process in Polavaram, Veligonda and housing schemes and claimed to have saved more than Rs 1500 crore public money till now.
In the latest instance, the Jagan government on Friday went in for reverse tendering even in village secretariats for purchase of desktops, printers and UPS systems, thereby saving public money to the extent of Rs 65.47 crore.
While it saved Rs 51.15 crore in purchase of desktops and printers, another Rs 14.32 crore was saved in purchase of printers.
The government has called for tenders in purchase of 29,888 computers and 14,944 UPSs. Three companies have competed in the tender. A company has quoted for lowest-price of Rs 191.10 crore and listed as L-1.
The government has conducted reverse tendering and another company has quoted for Rs 139.95 crore and secured the tender. The said company has quoted 26.77 percent less than the L-1 tender value in reverse tendering. By this, about Rs 51.15 crore of public money has been saved.
