NRIs distribute 32,550 meals for free in Houston

NRIs under the wing of Indian-American Council have prepared 32,550 meals to distribute for free to the needy at Houston Food Bank. About 100 Indian America community members have voluntarily took part in this and over a course of three and half hours, they have packed over 30,000 meals.

Board member of Houston Food Bank, Manu Asthana has thanked the Indian community members for coming forward for this noble cause. He added that the Indian community is economically very strong and it is good to see, they are offering a help.

One of the volunteers said, “There are about 40 millions without food in North America and it’s good to see hundreds of Indian taking part in this food packing drive. The food packed here will be distributed across the country those who are in need.”

The Houston Food Bank will host yet another such event on March 23rd and appealed to the Telugu and Indian community members to spread the word and participate in large number for this food packing drive.
