YSRCP member and Narasapuram MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju was recently released from AP CID custody after the Supreme Court granted him bail in the sedition case filed against him. The MP has been residing in Delhi for the past few days after he received first aid from AIIMS. Investigations are being done into the manner of his custody, and the alleged torture he was put through by the AP CID.
Before the heat of these events could really die down, yet another case has been filed on RRR now. The AP Human Rights Commission received a complaint against RRR, for his humiliating remarks against the Reddy caste. The OC Welfare Association filed a petition with the Human Rights Commission on the MP, on his derogatory remarks against the Reddy caste, and because his words instigated others against the Reddy caste.
Days before RRR was arrested by the CID in Hyderabad, he had made a few controversial statements against the Reddy community, where he went as far as denying the existence of the community, calling it a profession and not a caste. He predominantly attacked the Reddy leadership in the YSRCP, especially YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
To these comments, the entire Reddy community has responded with a petition filed with the NHRC, who want appropriate action to be taken against the MP.
