KCR’s daughter and MLc Kavitha Kalwakuntla will again have a politically uncertain period. Her term as an MLC from the local body constituency of the council is all set to come to an end by January 2022. Normally, an MLC’s term is for six years. But, Kavitha was elected in a seat vacated by sitting TRS MLC Bhupathi Reddy.
Reddy defected to the Congress ahead of the assembly elections in 2018. Soon after the elections, he was disqualified by the chairman of the council. Hence a bypoll was necessitated in October 2020. Reddy was elected in January 2016. Hence, Kavitha’s term will end in January 2022. The next assembly elections are held only in 2023. This means Kavitha will have to be without any position for over a year.
What will Kavitha do during this period? Will she contest for the assembly elections in 2023 or will she contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency to wreak vengeance on Dharmapuri Aravind, who defeated her in 2019 elections? Meanwhile, if sources are to be believed she might work for the Singareni collieries recognised union elections in the coal belt.
Kavitha is the only KCR kin to lose the elections. Her brother KTR, cousin Santosh Kumar and another cousin Harish Rao are unbeaten in elections till now.
